Each week we will select several players to hightlight asking them questions about their experience and a little about themselves and their families.
A NEW BEGINNING

The Madeira Community Youth Football Organization (MCYFO) is a new, community-driven youth football organization. We will provide Madeira families with an excellent youth football experience that will develop a love and appreciation for the game so that Madeira youth can learn the life lessons that football is designed to teach.
Football is unique in its ability to teach the importance of teamwork and discipline. The result of an excellent experience is the character and confidence that develops in those that participate. Most of us have fond memories of competing in youth sports and can recall the life lessons that those experiences taught us. Youth sports should teach participants how to win and how to lose. Participants should learn that dedication to practice, their teammates, and adhering to the coaches' instruction will result in competitive games on the weekend.
We will accomplish this through a "uniquely-Madeira" program designed specifically for Madeira youth. We will have two tackle teams - one for 3rd/4th grades (T34) and one for 5th/6th grades (T56) - and fast-paced, co-ed flag football for pre-K, K, and grades 1 and 2. The two tackle teams will also support a youth cheerleading program. The flag program will teach the fundamentals of the game and a love for the game in an age-appropriate manner.
We will schedule approximately 8 games against "like-minded" programs of similar size. This creates a game season that will begin in early September and end in late October. Programs such as Mariemont, Indian Hill, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA), and Miami Valley Christian Academy have committed to playing teams from the MCYFO.
Any child who resides in Madeira, has a parent residing in Madeira, attends Madeira Public Schools, or who has previously played youth football in Madeira may participate.
The current MCYFO board is: President: Dean Bishop; VP Football Operations John Cravaack; Director of Coaching: Rick Rockwell Secretary/Treasurer: Brian Bell; Director, Community Relations: Bob Bell; Operations Director: Chris Flanagan; Director, Flag Football: Robert Manning; Cheerleading Director: Beth Hertzman.
In addition, Terry Jacobs is acting as our Chief Advisor given his decades of experience with youth football and his extensive work as a director with The National Football Foundation. The National Football Foundation's mission statement reads: Our mission is to promote and develop the power of amateur football in developing the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal, and the drive for academic excellence in America's young people. Terry was also instrumental in the recent Madeira stadium renovation.
